Margaret is a Founding Member of North Star Attorney Search (“North Star”), a company founded by women and dedicated to providing the best possible search experience for its candidates and clients. Margaret has placed groups, partners, and associates with law firms, investment banks, hedge funds, and companies throughout the world.

Prior to recruiting, Margaret practiced law with Skadden Arps and Mintz Levin in Boston and with Paul Hastings in New York.  Margaret practiced law for 8 years, spending the first 3 years as a litigator and the last 5 years as a transactional attorney.  Margaret’s experience with different firms and practice groups has made her extremely adept at advising a wide variety of attorneys who are considering making changes in their careers.  Margaret truly loves the entire search process from the initial conversations with candidates where they discuss her candidates’ reasons for making a move to the final stages where they are selecting the offers that best meet her candidates’ goals.  Margaret has worked in the legal industry since 1993 as either a practicing attorney or a recruiter, and it would be difficult for you to find a recruiter with a better understanding of the legal market, employers, and hiring trends.

When Margaret is not devoting herself to North Star, she practices Bikram Yoga, gardens, and spends time with her family. Conducting a successful search, executing a perfect posture, growing a flower from a seed, and raising children are all spiritual journeys that enrich Margaret’s life and inspire her to be the best sibling, friend, partner, parent, and recruiter possible.

The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.

Working with Margaret was a real pleasure. Her honesty and insights gave me the comfort that she was always on my side, while helping me to develop a realistic set of expectations on a potential move to a new market. I never felt pressured to put myself in a bad position, and she was a relentless advocate who was always available to prepare me for an interview, explain another step in the process, or help me work through my options. Margaret would be an excellent option for anyone looking for an engaged and thoughtful partner in the lateral process with real experience placing laterals successfully.

A few months after prematurely leaving my position at a large firm to move in-house, I made an impromptu call to Margaret to discuss lateral opportunities and how best to transition back to the firm setting. Within no time, Margaret found me an opportunity in the perfect practice area and location at an unparalleled top-tier firm (one of multiple offers)! Her expertise and abilities are truly incredible. I am still trying to wrap my head around it, and cannot thank her enough. For any associate considering a move, I highly recommend reaching out to Margaret.

Margaret is the only recruiter I would recommend to anyone going through the lateral process. She really goes above and beyond the call of duty, handling all the small details that can make the lateral process so nerve-racking. She has great relationships with the HR contacts at all the firms I applied to, and knows how to stay on top of those contacts so that you don’t slip through the cracks. On top of that, she’s a genuinely nice person who listens and cares about finding the right fit for your career. In the end, I got a great offer that I never would have gotten without her, and when I (frustratingly) had to turn it down for personal reasons, she was completely understanding, despite all the work she’d put in to help get me the job. I’d contact her again in a heartbeat!
